Christmast Lights Interfere with the Wii

In our basement we set up our christmas tree a little bit behind our TV.  It's the same TV where I have my Wii hooked up, and the sensor bar is on top.  When We set up our Christmas tree and turned on the lights, the Wii remote stopped working well.  It appears that the Wiimotes are picking up the flickering infrared from the lights, and getting confused as to where the sensor bar is.

Yesterday I went over to my brother-in-laws house to play some Wii sports, and they had a similar situation going on.  Both cases were easily remedied by turning off the tree.  You just can't have the tree and the Wii on at the same time.
