Got my Wii! - Need games.
Ok, so I did get my Nintendo Wii on Sunday. I did a lot of recon the day before, so I had my attack strategy all planned out. Walmart was a no-go because they had 30 units, and there were more than 30 people in line very quickly Saturday morning. I guess most people like to be inside when they wait. I also checked out Target, and they were starting to line up. They only had 24 units. Circuit City and Best Buy couldn't tell me how many they were getting.
I ended up getting up at 5:00am Sunday morning, and headed over to Best Buy. They were opening at 9:00am. I figured if too many people were in line, I would head over to Circuit City, because they opened at 10:00am. Well it turned out the line as Best Buy was much shorter than what I thought it would be. There were less than 20 people there when I showed up. It probably helps that it was freezing out.
I probably could have showed up as late as 8:30 and I would have still gotten a Wii, but I'm not sure if I could have gotten any accessories. I ended up picking up 3 extra controllers. What is the point of getting a multi-player game system and not getting enough extra controllers? I didn't buy any extra nunchucks (the thingy that connects to the controller). It was hard to find any information about whether or not I would need it. I picked up a copy of Monkey Ball - Bananna Blitz, which requires it for some of it's mini games. One thing they did not have was the component cables. I'm pretty angry about that. That would make the picture look much better on my TV. I don't understand how Nintendo can be so short handed with these things. I wish I could have a product that cost almost nothing to manufactuer, and have millions of people want to buy it. Apparently some local stores should be getting in the cables within the next couple of weeks.
So far, I'm not very impressed with the graphics, but that could be due to the good cables not being available yet. I have to keep remembering that this system is all about playing ALL the games, not just the new ones. It's backwards compatible with basically every Nintendo system ever made, which is truly amazing. I'm waiting for Super Mario Allstars to come out so I can download it.
The new controller is pretty cool, but it's obviously better for some games than others. Wii sports is a blast, and is very realistic, especially for the bowling. I think it will actually help out my real bowling game.
Ok, I want to post a lot more information, but I'll get to the point for now. I need games. Here is the beautiful part, it will play Nintendo Gamecube games. That means that you can buy me cheap Gamecube games if you like. They can be purchased at most retail stores like Walmart, Target, Best Buy, etc.
Here is a list of the games that I want right now:
- Bomberman Generations (Gamecube) - this one is hard to find
- PaperMario (Gamecube) - I really want this one, and it's about $20 at most retail stores
- Any Mario Party games (Gamecube) - The later ones are preferable such as 6 and 7.
- Super Monkey Ball 2 (Gamecube) - This game is awesome simply because of Monkey Target.
Later!
