ABC’s Lost - HD Screen Capture of the Dharma Map

If you're not watching Lost, what is wrong with you?!?! I think it's probably the best show on TV right now. Well, last night, they decided to give us a new clue as to what is happening on the island. It was a map of the Dharma facility, but they didn't show it long enough to see everything. I searched the Internet and found an HD screen capture of it. Click the image below for the full resolution version. The person that took it was also nice enough to read and clarify a lot of the messages.

Crazy Webhost4life.com Support Conversation

Powered by SightMax
Welcome to sightmax2.webhost4life.com. Louis will be right with you.
Louis Hi this is Louis! How may I assist you?
Jason is it just me, or is the control panel down?
Jason I’ve been getting “Sorry, control panel is being updated at this time, please try in 30 mins.” for a couple of hours.
Louis It’s exactly what the message is saying
Louis It is being updated
Jason but it’s been like that for a couple of hours. I’ve seen sites that use something like that as an error message. I just want to make sure this isn’t that type of situation
Louis You can try clearing your cache or rebooting your computer
Louis after about 20 minutse
Jason but it’s a server issue. Do you actually know that they are updating the site?
Louis It’s updating the server

It just seems like good support is hard to find these days. I did love the support favorite of “reboot your computer”. That’s a classic. The funny part is, the site really did come up 20 minutes later, after saying the same message for 3 hours.

Beautiful Bedroom Furniture

I finally got a chance to take some photos of our bedroom set. The entire set was handcrafted by the greatest craftsman on the planet, who also happens to be my grandfather.

We were lucky enough to get an amazing set of furniture that we will enjoy for the rest of our lives. Everyone that visits will always notice something unique and wonder how it was done. You can look at it over and over and always find something new. The intelligence and skill required for such a masterpiece still astounds me.

So thank you! We really really really appreciate what you have created for us!

Subversion post commit script to blog blank log messages on Windows

I was looking for a script that would force people to log a message when committing files to a Subversion repository. I was unsuccessful getting the information out of Google, so I asked on the Subversion mailing list, and found someone that had written one.

Nathan Kidd was kind enough to send me this script:

@echo off
:: Stops commits that have empty log messages.

setlocal

set “REPOS=%~1″
set “TXN=%~2″

:: Make sure that the log message contains some text.
for /f “tokens=*” %%i in (’C:Progra~1SubversioninSvnlook.exe log -t “%TXN%” “%REPOS%”‘) do set “LOGMSG=%%i”
if not “%LOGMSG%”==”" exit 0

echo. 1>&2
echo Your commit has been cancelled because you didn’t enter a log message! 1>&2
echo Please write a brief log message giving an overview of the changes 1>&2
echo that you are checking in.
exit 1

All you have to do is put this in a file called “pre-commit.cmd”, and put it in your hooks folder. You’ll also have to change the path to Svnlook.exe if you have it in a different location.

Basement Construction Progress

I’ve slowly been making some progress on the basement. My uncle Mike came over Saturday morning and we put in the plumbing for the counter that we will eventually have. It was the first time I’ve done any plumbing, and it wasn’t that bad.

Last night, I finished putting in the shelves in our storage room. We now have a couple hundred sqaure feet of storage space on shelves! Now we can store all of our old crap indefinitely.

I have some simple electrical work to finish up, and I’m hoping to be able to throw up a couple sheets of drywall this weekend.

Stay tuned for some photos.
