New wireless phones for Melissa and I
In my never ending quest to keep my money away from the blood-sucking phone companies, I switched phone plans. It’s really sad that the only way to get a great deal is to switch carriers every year or 2. I’ve been a loyal customer of Sprint PCS since before they even offered commercial service here in Green Bay. The day has come when a deal too tempting has presented itself. Because of my current employeer, we receive an employee discount on Verizon service. I also noticed that they have a pretty good family plan. Here are the details:
- 500 shared anytime minutes
- Unlimited nights and weekends
- Unlimited calling to Verizon customers
- Wireless Internet out of voice minutes
- Insane phone deals
The only thing I really lost was my unlimited Internet access. That’s not really a big deal, because when I did use it, it was not for a long period of time. The Verizon service just uses up your minutes, but you don’t have to pay extra for it. I’m not sure if it’s unlimited on nights and weekends.
One of the biggest perks with signing up with them, is the outrageous phone deals if you sign a 2 year agreement. I got a Motorola E815 phone, and Melissa got a Samsung A650. Here is what my phone has:
- 1.3 Megapixel camera w/flash
- Huge screen
- Exterior screen with caller Id, etc
- Bluetooth
- 40mb built in storage, and a card slot for more
- MP3 player
- Video recording capability
- Speakerphone
- Anything else you can think of
Because of my employee discount, my phone was only $50, and Melissa’s was free. I would have paid $100 without the discount. I got the total plan for $50/month instead of the normal $60/month. My phones should be showing up Friday, and my number will be switching over a few days after. If there is any downtime, that is probably why. It’s going to be good times.
