Christmas Eve 2004

This year we spent Christmas with Melissa’s family. The festivities took place at Brian and Maxine’s house. Pretty much everyone was there except Amanda, who went south for Christmas.

The food was prepared by Adam and Jeni, and everyone seemed to enjoy it. They made enough mashed potatoes and gravy, and they were very delicious. Some other foods I enjoyed included turkey, biscuits, and mud pie.

Of course I got lot of photos for everyone to enjoy. I’m going to try to get Rick’s photos and Jeni’s photos so that I have them all.

The Christmas tree and all the gifts

Snow Blower/Thrower

I finally got tired of shoveling, and bought a snow blower. Last time I was shoveling, I pulled a muscle in my back, and realized it wasn’t worth it. I looked at a Murray at Fleet Farm, and they had one that was alright. It had a 5 horsepower Tecumseh engine. Then Melissa’s uncle Rick went to Sears with me to look at their selection. They had 4 show blowers that were in my price range. The cheapest one had a 5 horsepower engine, and was only a single speed. The other three models had the same price, were about the same size, but had different size engines and blowers. It was pretty obvious that the 8 horsepower model was the best. It had the biggest tires, the biggest engine, and the engine was a Briggs & Stratton. My lawn mower has the same brand of engine, and I really like it. The model number is 88180.

Luckily, Sears had one in stock. Rick and I loaded it up in his truck, and brought it home.

I used to dread when it would snow. Now I can’t wait!

www.Young-Technologies.com Site Update

I’m redesigning and redefining my www.Young-Technologies.com site again. It’s main focus is going to be a place to showcase some of the software that I have written, and believe may be of use to others. I may also publish some articles and reviews that are inspired by my blog entries. For reviews I believe are already complete, I’ll probably just link to them directly.

It’s going to help separate the content from the day to day entries. The day to day entries are more for my family, where the other site will be more of a site for everyone else. If you don’t understand, that’s fine. You’ll see soon enough.

More Photos of Ryan

Ryan is Healthy

Ryan had his doctor appointment today. They weighed him, and told us that his goal is to be back up to his birth weight of 7lbs 15oz, and he ended up being 9lbs 5oz. The pediatrician said that he is very strong and healthy. He’s starting to get a slight rash on his face, but she said it is normal for newborns to get a temporary rash soon after birth. We also saw another baby while we were waiting to see the doctor. He is 5 months old, and eats 5oz of forumla at a time. She was very suprised to hear that our 2 week old often had the same amount.

Ordering Photos Online

I just noticed that Wal-Mart lowered their price for photos from digital photos. They are only $.19 for 4×6. What a steal! I also noticed that Fotki.com also has the same price, which makes it really easy to order prints.

So for those of you that think that digital photos too “futurisitic” or whatever, it is so easy to get “real” photos from my photo site. You can order them right from the site, and have them shipped to your mailbox. You never need to go anywhere! You can’t tell me it’s easier to take film to the store, go back home, wait, go back to the store to pick them up, and go back home. Shipping is less than $2.00.

Melissa is feeling better

Melissa seems to be feeling a little better. Yesterday she felt good enough to go to Maxines gift opening for her birthday party. This morning she took a step back, but now she seems to be better again. She has finally had a little bit of an appetite, and actually asked for a cheesburger!

As for Maxine’s birthday party, it was pretty fun. We missed the dinner and the limo ride, but still got to eat cake at Jane’s house. The limo was a stretch SUV limo, and was about as big as they come. I uploaded some photos from the gift opening here.

Last night, Mary stayed overnight to watch Ryan so that Melissa and I could get some sleep. Thanks Mary!

Ryan’s Bellybutton

Today Ryan’s umbilical cord thingy fell off. Now we don’t have to worry about it irritating him as much.

New Ryan Photos

I posted more photos of Ryan. He is doing very well. He eats a lot of food, and sleeps pretty good. The photos can be found here.

I’m still here

Yes, I’m still alive. I’m sure some of you were starting to wonder. Obviously I’ve (we’ve) been a little busier than usual because of Ryan. He’s definately worth it. He still sleeps pretty good. He’s pretty active between 10pm and 1pm. After that, he sleeps between 3 and 5 hours at a time. I’m going to be uploading a few photos over the next few days.

Thanks to all of you that gave us wonderful gifts and flowers, and thanks to everyone who has been helping us out recently.
