Aunt Mary Watching Ryan

Last night, Melissa’s aunt Mary watched Ryan for us overnight. I sleep great! That you very much!

Tonight Melissa’s grandparents are going to come over until Midnight or so. We’re going to get some dinner and go see “Without a Paddle” at the budget theater. I’ll let you know if it’s any good.

Generic Stylesheets

Does anyone know where I can find some generic CSS stylesheets for my Young-Technologies site? All I could find are the W3C Core Styles. I’m just looking for some nice styles that can be dropped in and work with the standard XHTML elements. I don’t really want to have to add class tags or ids to every element. I really just want to keep it as clean and simple as possible. I also like the fact that it should work fine in any browser, including Pocket Internet Explorer on my Pocket PC.

Microsoft Money 2005

I got a copy of Microsoft Money Deluxe 2005 for christmas. When I upgraded my Money 2004 data file, it lost all of the starting balances for my accounts, so I had to recalcuate all of them. It also forgot about 10 occurrances of various bills that occurred in the past few months. Other than that, it’s pretty cool. It’s got a whole new look, and it’s pretty streamlined. They seem to be making it a lot simpler to use, while maintaining the advanced functionality. I may write a more comprehensive review later.

Fotki Album/Folder Sorting

I have some advice for those of you who use the Fotki photo service. The default sort is set up to sort folders and albums in ascending order by creation date. That doesn’t really make much sense to me. I went into my account settings and changed it so that folders and albums that changed last show up at the top. That way when I upload new photos or create a new section, they show up at the top for everyone. You can also just apply those settings to specific folders.

Ryan is 1 month old!

Ryan is now 1 month old today! They grow up so fast. I finally got those photos uploaded that I said I would get uploaded yesterday. A big batch of Ryan photos got uploaded also. Those are the last of the photos going into that gallery. I’m going to have to create a new one for his second month.

Weather Predicting Reliability

I always wondered now reliable all of the different weather predicting services are. When I look at Weather.com, it’s often quite different from NOAA and local news stations.

When I heard that the NOAAstarted publishing weather data in xml, I started thinking. It would be interesting to query the different services and their weather predictions, and store it all in a database. Then at the end of the day, query the NOAAdata for the current day, to get the actual weather. It would then be possible to perform an analysis to see who is the most consistent and correct most often.

If only I had to time to work on some fun projects…

Christmas @ Grandma’s

Melissa’s grandma had her annual christmas party last night. She had ham to eat, which I don’t particularly like. I think we may have convinced her to go back to pizza for next year. We had pizza 2 years ago, but she switched to ham when everyone went on Atkins (but we use buns for the ham sandwiches?). Anyway, I think we finally convinced her that everyone liked pizza, and the people not eating it were doing so by choice. Not everyone likes ham.

Anyway, down with ham! Also, I’m going to be uploading a few photos from the party, along with a few new photos of Ryan.

New Tires

I finally got some new tires for my car. My old ones had almost no tread on them, and didn’t really have any winter traction. I got some Bridgestone Grenadier PLE tires from Fleet Farm. The traction is phenominal compared to the old tires. They are also extremely quiet. I didn’t realize that my old tires accounted for about half of the noise when I was driving. Fleet Farm was a pretty good place to buy tires. They got me an appointment within 24 hours, and installed them in 45 minutes. They gave also me a $20 off coupon that I didn’t know they had.

Dell Axim x50v Pocket PC Review

I’m working on writing a review on my Dell x50v Pocket PC. If you are interested, check it out and give me any advice you may have. I’m probably not very good at writing reviews. I’ll be working on improving it over the next few days, because I belive it will be beneficial to those that are considering buying this Pocket PC.

Not Enough Snow

The snow is taunting me. It knows I got a new snow blower. It only snowed enough today to give a light dusting. Now if we don’t get a lot more snow soon, I’ll have to go out and use the shovel. Why are you doing this to me??!?!??!
