Today I was very busy, I put in the suspended ceiling, installed the carpeting, and started moving into my new office.
The suspended ceiling was a breeze, and turned out really good. It’s made up of 2×2 tiles. The 2×4 tiles were 1.80 each, and the 2×2 tiles were 1.70 each, so I bought the 4 footers, and cut them in half. I ended up estimating the materials I need almost perfectly. I was short 4 of the 4 foot sections, and had 3 extra 2 foot sections. I went with a suspended ceiling because I wanted access to the pipes and wires that go over my office. It is also pretty good at obsorbing sound from and above the room.
The carpeting was pretty easy. It took me a while to figure out how to put a 12 foot wide roll in an office that is 11 feet wide. I had to unroll it and fold it up. Then I took it in and unfolded it. The carpeting already has backing installed. I used carpet tape to secure it to the floor. I don’t want that stuff flying up on me :-). Before I read the directions, I tried trimming the edges of the carpet. After messing that up a few times, I decided to read the directions. They instructed me to use a putty knife to push the carpet into the corner, and then cut it off. That worked much better.
I don’t have any photos yet, because I don’t have the card reader set up on my computer yet. It’s in the pile of stuff waiting to move in to my office. I’ll be able to post some tomorrow evening.
