Firefox Rocks
If you are still using Internet Explorer for your browser, you need to switch. All of the spyware and bugs are really annoying. I switched to FireFox months ago, but I still get constant phone calls about spyware and viruses.
Still not convinced? Check out the “Switch” site. Once you do switch, be sure to go to this site for some tips, and here for a list of great extensions, to extend the functionality of FireFox.
Top 10 Reasons to switch: (from the switch site)
- Tabbed Browsing - Makes surfing the web faster
- Popup Blocking
- Find Stuff Easier
- Simplified Privacy / Annoyance Eliminator
- Better Bookmarks and History
- Accessible, Intelligent, Responsive
- Customizable and Extendable
- Modern Download Manager
- Built for standards
- KISS (Keep It Simple and Straight-Forward)
Actually, that’s an interesting comment. I’m pretty biased toward Microsoft, and it’s tough for me to find a product from another company that I like better. I’m actually a full time software engineer that writes software targeted exclusively for Microsoft products (Windows, .NET, SQL Server, IIS). The software I have written doesn’t work in Firefox.
What bothers me, is that there were many times when I spent hours trying to find a “hack” to get things to look right in IE. Because of it’s non-conpliance with standards, I made the applications unusable in Firefox.
I do have hope for the next version of IE. From what I’ve read from the Microsoft guys, they are REALLY focused on making the browser standards compliant, and really distinguishing themselves as “the” browser. I may lose all my reasons to use Firefox at that point. And that’s really what I’m hoping for.
